Easy RPG Map
A downloadable tool
A dungeon map with fog of war, for tables that meet in person.
The GM reveals the rooms one by one from their phone; players scan a QR code and follow on theirs. Runs on your own Wi-Fi or a hotspot — no installs, no accounts, no internet, no subscription.
My group plays in person, so every VTT I tried was the wrong tool — they're all built for playing online. Roll20, Foundry, Fantasy Grounds: great software, wrong problem. At a real table you either put a TV flat on the table, or you go back to drawing on graph paper.
So I made one for the phones that are already on the table. I reveal rooms as the party explores, everyone follows on their own screen, and nothing ever leaves the local network.
You prepare at home. Load any map image — a scan, a photo, something you downloaded. Draw the outline of a room on top of it, and that room becomes something you can tap.
At the table you open a session. Your players see empty parchment. When the party opens a door, you tap the room: from that moment it's on their screens. Long press, and it's gone again.
Players with the app just join. Players without it scan a QR code and the map opens in their browser — same rooms, same marks, nothing to install. Works on iPhone, on an old Android, on anything with a camera and a browser.
Treasure works the same way. Put items in a room, and when the party searches, the loot opens on their phones and they take what they take. They know about an item what they're meant to know, and ask you to identify it one step at a time.
Room outlines and your private notes never leave your phone, and it isn't a matter of good behaviour: on the channel that connects the phones there is simply no way to say them.
No accounts. No servers. Nothing goes through the internet — your home Wi-Fi is enough, and where there's no network at all, your hotspot works the same. In a game shop, on holiday, in a basement
Playing is free and stays free: the session, the players, the treasure, the backups, and the packages you pass to another GM. No ads.
You only pay to prepare beyond a point: the first five maps you create are free, then a one-time unlock removes the limit. No subscription.
Made by a roleplayer for other roleplayers. If something doesn't work at your table, tell me — that's the fastest way for it to get fixed.
